By Brian Smith, April 14, 2010

The NAB Education Foundation, in partnership with the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) and Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), is hosting its annual Career Day today in the Las Vegas Hilton.

The 2010 NAB Show Career Day is sponsored by Edge Technology Services.

“The goal of Career Day is to provide job seekers with career advancement strategies and networking tools to enhance employment opportunities for the media industry leaders of tomorrow,” said NABEF President Marcellus Alexander.

Career Day is designed for experienced professionals, college students and entrylevel job seekers who are interested in job opportunities and internships. Some of the industry’s top firms will be onsite, answering questions and meeting with hopefuls.

Participating companies include Bonneville International, CNN/Turner Broadcasting, Entercom, Hubbard Broadcasting, PBS Las Vegas, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and the Star Radio Group, comprised of Virginia stations WFLSFM Fredericksburg, WWUZ-FM Bowling Green and WVBX-FM Spotsylvania.

Services for job seekers include a Career Advising and Career Services Center, both on location.

Certified career coach and consultant Cindy Weiner will be at the Career Advising Center, giving one-on-one assistance in the form of résumé critiquing and offering effective tools for networking.

Several informative Career Day sessions are being held at the Career Services Center. Topics of discussion include selfpresentation, career advancement strategies, intelligent risk-taking and social networking.

Session titles include “Understanding and Presenting Your Biggest Assets: How to See YOU to an Employer;” “Taking Risks in Your Job Search;” “Open Highways and One Lane Roads: The Journey from Unemployment to Well Employed” and “Social Networking your way to a Job.”

A nonprofit organization, NABEF is devoted to serving both broadcasters and the public interest through its support and advocacy of community service, education, diversity and broadcasting issues and trends.

Admission is free, and services are available to both registrants and non-registrants of the NAB Show.
