Telos Intros Prototype VX Phone System
April 22, 2009
Telos introduced a prototype of its next generation of multi studio phone systems, the VX. The VX will use industry-standard Session Initiation Protocol to connect to telco lines.
SIP and an appropriate connection gateway allows the unit to interface with POTS, T1/E1, ISDN lines and also Internet Protocol PBX units from other manufacturers.
In the IP PBX application, compatible phones from other manufacturers can be used and controlled, making the task of transferring calls on business lines to broadcast lines as simple as pushing a button. The 2 RU VX Engine connects to telephone lines and studio audio via a Gigabit Ethernet port.
In installations with Livewire capability, no traditional audio connections are needed. Axia Livewire nodes provide traditional analog and AES3 audio connections for studios without Livewire connectivity. The VX system components will be linked by standard Ethernet switches.
The production version of VX is scheduled to ship sometime in the third of fourth quarter of 2009.
