Harman Announces New Studer, JBL, AKG Products
April 22, 2009
Harman — the corporate owner of Studer, AKG, JBL and Soundcraft, among other brands — has several introductions at the NAB Show.
Studer has deconstructed the OnAir 2500 digital console to offer it in modular/scalable pieces. Called the OnAir 2500 Modulo, the concept offers channel faders in groups that can be installed in user-provided desks. The individual buckets link back to the processor/router. Visuals are handled by standard LCD screens.
JBL rolled out the affordable LSR2300, consisting of 5- and 8-inch two-way monitors and a 10-inch subwoofer, all powered. JBL's Peter Chaikin said, "The LSR2300 line has a number of features that should appeal to broadcasters."
Soundcraft is making its Vi Series digital consoles more broadcaster-friendly with new I/O cards for SDI video with de-embedding for Dolby Digital and Dolby E and a dedicated Dolby E de-embedding card.
For AKG, the DMS 700 digital wireless system was announced. The system was designed specifically to handle the new RF spectrum now that HDTV is up and operational. It also includes a number of interesting features such as spectrum analysis and built-in dbx processing. AKG also announced a new studio mic, the 820 Tube.
